COVID-19 Testing for International Travel

In my latest video, I walk through a detailed example to demonstrate how to figure your COVID-19 testing options and timing for international travel.

My example itinerary is for travel to the following places:

  1. Originating in Orlando, FL in the United States
  2. Transiting through Amsterdam in the Netherlands
  3. Final destination in Split, Croatia.

Travel Resources

Here are some great resources to help you with your travel research – especially for the COVID requirements and restrictions:

  1. IATA.  This is basically the source airlines use to determine who can fly when and where and how.  You can use this map by clicking on a country and all the requirements will popup in a text bar along the righthand side.
  2. US Embassy websites.  You can learn a lot about the entry requirements and restrictions from various countries by going to the various US Embassy sites.  To find them, do a google search on “US Embassy {country name} COVID” and you will easily find links to the various sites.  Here I linked to the US Embassy in Croatia for example.
  3. Airport websites.  Airports are another place to go for information on testing requirements for transiting and entering various countries.  Here I linked to the AMS site just for an example.
  4. Airline websites.  Again, the airlines to a pretty good job of keeping up with all the requirements so they’re worth checking out as well.  Here I linked to Delta’s Discover Map as an example.  Here you can enter your origin and destination and it will provide you with all the COVID-related requirements you need to know to travel.
  5. Travel Off Path.  This is a travel site that has LOADS of great information on travel requirements and restrictions for popular destinations around the world.
  6. Official government sites.  This is another place to go for information on travel requirements and restrictions.  Here I linked to Germany’s Federal Foreign Office which, in addition to entry requirements, they also include links to other official German government departments such as the Ministry of Interior, Health, and Transport.

When researching, I strongly recommend cross-referencing information to one or more other places just to be sure.

I hope you find this video helpful and it de-mystifies your international travel planning!
