While we were staying in Pula, we took a brief drive north to Rovinj, located in the northern part of Croatia on the Istrian peninsula.
Here’s a map to give you an idea for the location – see the blue pin:
Rovinj is a quaint little town popular for fishing, tourism, and it’s marina stop for super yachts.
The architecture and beautiful surrounding water make Rovinj reminiscent of Venice, Italy. This makes total sense when you see where its located… directly across the Adriatic Sea from each other.
There is not a ton of things to see in Rovinj but it was a wonderful place to visit for a few hours while you’re visiting the Istrian Peninsula.
Old Town Rovinj
One interesting fun fact is Rovinj originally was an island but in 1763 they filled in the narrow channel that turned it into a peninsula.
Here are some pics from the beautiful old town Rovinj:
St. Euphemia’s Church
Here are a couple pics of this Church built around 1725 and located at the top of the hill in the center of the peninsula:
Here’s a cool pic I took looking away from the Church towards the water:
The Beautiful Beaches
A post of Rovinj wouldn’t be complete without sharing the beautiful water and beaches where you can swim:
Cafes & Restaurants
It was really cool how along the shore were several cafes and restaurants to enjoy the view of the Adriatic Sea.
Here are a few pics to give you a sample of what they’re like.
Two words come to mind here – RELAX and CHILL:
Here is a great candid pic Bill snapped while I sipped on a glass of wine that I had to include in this post:
I hope you enjoyed this quick little trip through the sweet town of Rovinj, Croatia.
