I have to share a really cool story from last night in Hvar Town, Croatia. I hope I can properly explain the incredulity of this story!
Background
A few months ago, a girl from Iowa DM’d me to ask a bunch of questions for her upcoming trip to Croatia. She was going to Croatia for two weeks in September.
So…
She arrived a week or so ago and I’ve been closely following all her adventures in Croatia through her FB posts. It’s been fun for me to see (and re-live) all the cool places she’s stopping in. She’s actually been super active – doing things like white water rafting, 4 wheelers, ziplining, and now sailing.
Last Night
After the Executive Remote Worker virtual Meet & Greet last night, we walked down to the Riva to have dinner.
A friend recommended a restaurant called Fig Hvar so we headed there in hopes of getting a table.
Once there, we were disappointed to find out they were fully booked for the night.
Fortunately, we had a Plan B: another local restaurant called Alviž that we tried a couple weeks ago which was pretty good.
We then walked to Alviž. It was quite busy but we got seated right away.
I was a little disappointed by the table they gave us because we liked the ones towards the back that are in a cute outdoor garden. However, I figured we were lucky to get a table right away so I didn’t dare ask about a table in the back.
Regardless, after sitting at our table for about 15-20 minutes, I realized the people at the big table next to ours is speaking English… like American English…
I, of course, took a closer look at the people at the table.
I *thought* I recognized one of the girls at the table, so I pulled out my phone to check her FB profile.
Would you believe me if I told you it was that girl from Iowa?!?
I mean, I even visually confirmed the tattoos on her arms! 🤣
I didn’t want to interrupt their “lively” dinner so I waited until they got up to leave to introduce myself!
Conclusion
What are the crazy-ass odds that the two of us who met online would be having dinner ONE table away in the SAME Croatian town and at the SAME Croatian restaurant at the SAME time?!?
This has to be one of the coolest parts of traveling….
Have you ever had a similar serendipitous experience when traveling?
How does this even happen?
